We are an entirely
organisation with around 50 volunteers. Each of the volunteers belongs
to one or more of the following groups:
- EDITORS. Their
task is to read the local press and to prepare a script for the week by
chosing from the items of local news those articles, notices, etc. of
interest to our readers, bearing in mind any on-going stories already
reported in previous newsletters.
- Our recordings run for
around 60 minutes, with the aim to alternate the more serious
with light hearted articles.
- Each editor would expect
to do this every
five or six weeks.
Our readers operate in teams of two, one female , one male. Their task
is, rather obviously, to read the editor's script for the

There is one producer per recording session whose task is to control
equipment and monitor the readers to ensure that a good
clear recording is made.
- Master memory sticks are
copied from the
final approved recording.

Probably the least glamorous of our tasks but just as critical to the
production of our
newsletters. However good the script, the reading and
recordings are, they will not be heard by our listeners unless the
master memory sticks are copied to a memory stick for each of our
sent out to them.
- There are two processing
operates in the
morning prior to the recording session, collecting from the Post Office
the returned wallets with the memory sticks and taking them to the
studio where the wallets are sorted and
filed for the copying session the following morning. This team is
up of the same volunteers every week.
- The team who do the bulk
copying on the
following the recording session of the newsletter, use our fast
copying equipment to
record a memory stick to be stuffed into a wallet for each of our
listeners, the wallets then taken to the Post Office for despatch. The
teams who do this task expect to do this every four weeks.
